Kite buggying - boarding: Camber Sands Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: 20mph Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 10 Sea Temperature: Weather: Sunny Max Speed: 32.6mph (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 33.3miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Arrived about 0830, low tide was at 0940. Built buggy and hit the beach.
Got the 2.8m out, took a while to untangle bits, had a few mishaps
launching due to busy beach so ended up launching the kite with someone
elses lines over mine, messy! Decided it was a little breezy so changed to
2.2m, had some good fast runs but not able to really drop the hammer due to
traffic of kitesurfers, other buggies and boarders. Some incredibly
inconsiderate kitesurfers had stuck there kites and lines right on the
strip of hard flat sand, surely they could see the buggy tracks there and
avoided it like the other kitesurfers?! This meant that at one point of the
beach you had to slot the buggy through a 10ft wide strip of sand they left
or just ride over their lines (as tempting as it was I resisted doing that
though). Did a few skidded turns for the camera and played around in the
puddles for the camera, should get a few good pics out of that. Then rigged
up the tandem and the 1.4m to give Fiona a tow but this wasn’t enough so
changed back to the 2.2m and played with that until the tide came in. All
in all a good day, no mega speeds but there wasn’t enough space for
that.
My GPS battery was dead at the end of the day and I dont know when it ran
out so I did a few more miles but doubt I got any extra speed.
